In the plain of the Guadalquivir and Guadalete between the Puerto de Santa Maria of today and the hill of Dona Blanca, on which rests of a fortified town from the time from 900 till 200 B.C. were dug up, can possibly be found the rests of the town "Atlantis", which was described by Platon. The following map 1 shows the terrain in the state of today and the supposed location of the town in it.

There was given the opportunity to make a part of it only as a tunnel, by which was created "one entrance to the land", as Platon tells. To "the castle of the king" for which was the ideal situation at the spur of the behind the town laying Sierra de San Cristobal lead following Platon another bridge. with these bridges the town got importance at the lower reaches of the Guadalete and strengthened its strategic position.
